Hazelwood Neighborhood Association

The Hazelwood Community Group was formed in 1977 under Multnomah County. A neighborhood plan was adopted by Multnomah County in 1979, then revised and adopted by the City of Portland in 1986. The Hazelwood Community Group was recognized by the City in 1988, and changed its name to the Hazelwood Neighborhood Association in 1994. The area was annexed by the City between 1986 & 1994.

The Hazelwood Neighborhood Association took its name directly from the Hazelwood Water District, which was formed from four prior water districts, Russellville, Baseline, Menlo Park, and Hazelwood. The term "Hazelwood" itself is conjectured to relate to the hazelnut trees which have always grown voluntarily and prolifically in the area.

The following Standing Committees exist at this time:

  • Land Use
  • Livability
  • Public Safety
  • Education
  • Parks-OpenSpace-Environment

The Hazelwood Neighborhood Association always welcomes new community members. To contact us or to give us some feedback, please go to this link.

The Hazelwood Neighborhood Association is one of 11 neighborhoods in the East Portland Neighborhood Office coalition, which in turn is one of seven neighborhood coalition offices in the City's neighborhood system.
